IOWA CITY - Harry E. Boren was born April 29, 1927 in Grundy Center, Iowa the son of Emery and Mabel (Hockey) Boren. He graduated from Grundy Center High School. On December 25, 1949 he was united in marriage to Charlotte "Jean" Coghlan. They have lived in the Iowa City community since 1968. He worked as a superintendent of waste water treatment plant's for 45, retiring in 1990. He also worked part time at Cottage Reserve. He was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Iowa City. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Harry died on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 83 years. Harry is survived by his wife Charlotte of Iowa City; five children, Beverly Neuzil (Jerry) of Iowa City; Barbara Nace (Bob) of Kalona; Becky Bender (Lloyd) of Iowa City; Billie Jean Booth (Dave) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Jim Boren (Darlene) of Tuscumbia, MO; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Priscilla Frier (Jim) of Washington; Rose Marie Jaquis of Wellman; Waneta Button (Dean) of Marshalltown; 2 sisters-in-law Donna Boren of Grundy Center; Marge Clesle of Chicago, IL; and a brother-in-law Eldon Kruger of Holland, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Vance, Bob, and Don; and 2 sisters Darlen Kruger and Marjorie DeLange. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the First Church of The Nazarene in Iowa City. Pastor Michael Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery in Swisher. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A general memorial fund has been established.
