Harold O. Berstler, age 100, of Millersburg, passed away, Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 at the English Valley Care Center, in North English. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 , United Methodist Church, Millersburg, with Pastor Michelle Williamson officiating. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, December 10, 2018 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be directed to Essence of Life Hospice of Amana in his name.
Harold is survived by his wife Eulah; two children, Verla Rutherford of North English, and Marcia Doehrman (Jay) of Millersburg; two grandsons, Wayne and James Rutherford (Tamara); and three great-grandchildren, Patrick, Brandon and Jayson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ruth King Berstler, two sisters, Leona Roberts, and Beulah Doty, a brother Merlyn and two sons, Glenn and Randall.
Harold Oliver Berstler was born September 3, 1918 in Dayton, Iowa, the son of Samuel Berstler and Viola Mae Brawner Berstler. He graduated from the Millersburg High School in 1936 and proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Upon his return, Harold and Ruth King were united in marriage on May 21, 1948 in Washington, Iowa. She passed away in 1981. On April 29, 1995, he married Eulah Huff Mantz.
Harold was a farmer for many years. He also ran a repair shop, and the Millersburg Skating Rink. He drove school bus for the Millersburg-Deep River school district.
Harold enjoyed working with wood, gardening and canning. In his later years, he was fortunate to enjoy the experience of an Honor Flight. He was a member of the North English VFW and the Millersburg American Legion.
