Williamsburg-Harlan Rudolph Hagen was born June 19, 1928 in Hilton Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Adolph and Eleanora (Stohlmann) Hagen. He attended parochial and Hilton Consolidated School in Conroy. Harlan was united in marriage to Shirley Bryson on July 26, 1947 in Conroy, to this marriage they had two sons, Gary and Daniel. They later divorced. On June 21, 1959 Harlan was united in marriage to Marlene A. Koester at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Harlan worked for Amana Refrigeration, farmed for many years, then worked for Evans & Imhoff Feed for a number of years and later he worked for the Koester Brothers Farm until retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church serving as an elder, usher for 40 plus years and did volunteer work at the church. Harlan died Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg after a extended illness at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his son: Gary (Becky) Hagen of Marengo; four grandchildren: Shannon Hilton, Colette York, Thad (Andrea) Hagen and Nicole (Brian) Mumby; eight great grandchildren; three brothers: Gilbert (Betty) Hagen of Blairstown, Robert (Caryl) Hagen of Newhall and Willard (Sharon) Hagen of Williamsburg; a sister-in-law: Elenora Hagen of Blairstown and two brother-in-law: Elmer Von Ahsen of Belle Plaine and John (Virginia) Koester of Williamsburg and many nieces and nephews. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Marlene (Feb. 5, 2007), a son: Daniel Hagen; two brother: Earl and Merlin Hagen and two sisters: Norma Von Ahsen and Ilene Heinichen. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Monday, April 16, 2007 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Pastor Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, April 15, 2007 from 3 :00 to 8:00 pm at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
