Harlan D. Williams, age 74, of High Amana, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2022, at High Amana Cemetery, High Amana, with elder Alan Trumpold officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Marengo American Legion Post #76 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Harlan is survived by his siblings, Clifford Williams of High Amana, Levi (Kay) Williams of Williamsburg, Lovona (Frank) Mimick of Texas, and Rachel Williams of Pleasant Hill. Also surviving him are many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings James, Ralph, Melvin, Howard, and Roland Williams, Gloria Racey, and Marilyn Springstead.
Harlan Dean Williams was born March 18, 1948, in High Amana, the son Elver Hugo and Amanda Jane Puegner Williams. He attended the Amana Schools through the 8th grade. Harlan was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a cook stationed in Alaska. He worked for many years in the maintenance department at Amana Refrigeration. Harlan was a private man and was very comfortable being in his own home. He enjoyed gardening and didn’t miss an old western when it was on the television.
