Gretchen Hanshaw

Gretchen Hanshaw, three week old infant daughter of Jerry and Lynn Hanshaw of Salem, IA, died Sunday, July 08, 2007, during a family camping outing. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2007, from noon until 6:00 p.m., at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, of Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. that afternoon. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at the Calvary Baptist Church, 803 E. Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant, IA, with Pastors Don Coffin and Nathan Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Mills Cemetery. The daughter of Jerry and Lynn Henderson Hanshaw, Gretchen was born on June 13, 2007, in Iowa City, IA. She had a beautiful smile and eyes. Gretchen recognized the sound of her mama's voice and loved to be held and rocked. She liked music. Along with her parents, Jerry and Lynn of Salem, IA, Gretchen is survived by two brothers, Jeff Hanshaw and his wife Teresa of Wellman, IA, and Jerry "J.J." Hanshaw and his wife Wendy of Spring Lake, NC and four sisters, Joan and her husband Russ Bean of Kalona, IA, Julie Hanshaw of Missouri, Melissa Hanshaw of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Kayla Hanshaw of Salem, IA. Gretchen is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Monna Henderson of Havelock, IA, along with numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Gretchen was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Albert and Inez Hanshaw.
