Gregory Neal

Gregory M. "Greg" Neal, 54, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, October 28, 2013, at Arbor Court. A private family visitation will be held at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Born February 15, 1959 in Meridian, MS, Greg was the son of Margaret Ann Neal. He was a graduate from Northeast High School in Meridian, MS. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii. He was honorably discharged as a PFC after four years of service. On October 18, 2013, he married his companion of 22 years, Tennie "Lisa" McCoy. Greg worked in heavy construction until his health failed. He was a wonderful family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to travel and enjoyed oldies music, especially blues and Motown. An avid cook, his specialty was BBQ grilling. Survivors include his wife, Lisa, of Mt. Pleasant, IA; five sons, Marcus Neal and Gregory Neal, Jr. both of California, Obrieques Maxwell of Burlington, IA, Ladricus Maxwell of Gladstone, IL, and Dewayne Lenoir, Jr. of Burlington, IA; two daughters, Latoya McCoy of Ft. Madison, IA and Shakara McCoy of St. Louis, MO; two brothers, Anthony (Dionna) Neal of California and Paul Reed of Chicago, IL; and a host of relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents; and his grandmother, Rachel Neal, who raised him.
