Grace Lucille (Lee) Sondag, age 82, died on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA of congestive heart failure. A celebration of her life will be held at the Webster United Methodist Church in Webster, IA at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 8, 2006. Visitation will be held at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 from 5 PM to 8 PM. Burial will be in the South English Cemetery, rural South English, IA. A memorial fund has been established for the Webster United Methodist Church. Grace Lucille (Lee) Sondag was born on October 17, 1923 in Kinross, IA, the daughter of Benjamin David and Myrtle Swank May Lee. She grew up in the Kinross area and graduated from Kinross High School. On January 21, 1954, Grace was united in marriage to Wilford (Buster)Sondag at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Two children were born to this union. Grace worked as a bookkeeper at Lee Elevator, Inc. for many years. She was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church, was active in the UMW and had served as church treasurer for 48 years. She had a passion for bookkeeping and enjoyed putting in her crop each year. Wilford preceded her in death in December 1992. Grace lived 82 years, 3 months and 18 days. Grace is survived by a daughter Sandra M. McNamar and husband Brian of Des Moines, IA; two brothers: Harold Lee & Roscoe Lee both of Webster, IA; and a sister Anna Frits of Iowa City, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Richard Lee Sondag, brothers Francis Lee and Woodrow Lee.
