HAYESVILLE- Grace Marie Gilliland, age 90, of Wheatland, Iowa, formerly of Hayesville, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at her home in Wheatland. Grace was born September 9, 1914 in Keokuk County the daughter of Nick and Josie (Snakenberg) Wallerich. She attended country school and on November 3, 1934 she married Holland A. Gilliland in Hayesville. The couple made their home in Hayesville until 2001 when they moved to Wheatland. Grace was a former 4-H leader in Hayesville and attended St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and making quilts. Survivors include two daughters: Bonnie Joan Gorsh and Joyce Hahn; two sons: Don Gilliland and David Gilliland and wife Barbara; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and her sister Dorothy Eakins of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Holland in 2001 and one sister: Hazel Eastburn. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2004, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Rev. Jim Stout officiating. Burial will be at Pennington Cemetery near Sigourney. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
