KEOTA-Grace Marie Gent, age 85, of Keota, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at the Halcyon House in Washington, following a brief illness. Grace was born March 8, 1920, in rural Ollie, Iowa, to J. Peter and Elizabeth (Vogel) Dumont and graduated from Sigourney High School. On September 11, 1940, she married Damian Gent at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. The couple lived in the Harper community until moving to Keota in 1985. Grace was a member of Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed her family and friends, flowers, crafts, playing cards with friends and traveling. She also participated, along with help from other family members, in compiling extensive genealogy records for both the Gent and Dumont families. Survivors include four children: Judith Sieren and husband Ray of Keota, Philip Gent and wife Patricia of Monmouth, Iowa, Bonnie Warren and husband Bill of Smithville, Missouri and Russell Gent and wife Jan Heinen of Tijeras, New Mexico; nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Damian in 1998; three brothers: Wilford, Elmer and Leonard Dumont and four sisters: Wilma Wehr, Helen Dumont, Margaret Young and Gertrude Korf. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2006, at the Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2006, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be an Altar and Rosary Society Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County, Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
