Wellman-Gordon Keith Fabor was born February 29, 1928 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Albert and LaVandal Bell Fabor. He attended school in Belle Plaine. Gordon was united in marriage to Betty Jean Romine on June 25, 1949 in Washington, Iowa. To this marriage they were blessed with seven children. Gordon served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1951. He has spent most of his adult life in the Wellman area, being employed at Maplecrest Farms, City of Wellman and spent a number of years at Amana Refrigeration in Amana. Gordon enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting mushrooms, hunting and working with his hands. He was a member of the VFW Post #6414 in Riverside and the American Legion in Wellman. Gordon died Monday, January 23, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City after a lengthy illness at the age of 77 years. He is survived by six children: Dennis (Nancy) Fabor of Cunningham, Tennessee, Susan Schooley and Diane Davis both of Kalona, Jeffrey (special friend Pam Walker) of Kinross, Mary (Denny) Klein and Tina (Randy) Klein all of Riverside; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two sisters: Garnett Heyer and Nancy Simpson both of Marion and a brother: Merle Fabor of Ionia. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Eddy, a grandson: Cameron Chadima and three brothers: Dale, Dean and Michael Fabor. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2006 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wellman. Burial will be in the Wassonville Cemetery with military rites.
