KALONA-Gordon R. Jedele, age 82,of Kalona, died Saturday, December 10, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a brief illness. Gordon was born February 25, 1923, in Denison, Iowa, to Charlie and Freida (Rath) Jedele and graduated from Denison High School. He served in World War II and on May 13,1944, he was united in marriage to Darlene Joyce Clark in Denison, Iowa. The couple lived in several towns in Iowa, Kentucky, Illinois, Florida and Arkansas and returned to Iowa in 1996, when they moved to Kalona. Gordon was a hog buyer for Ralston Purina in the Kleen Leen division for 20 years. He was a member of Price of Peace Lutheran Church in Coralville. Survivors include three sons: Robert Jedele and wife Sonya of Kalona, Richard Jedele of Indianapolis, Indiana and Randall Jedele of Des Moines; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one brother: Charles Jedele of Winfield, Kansas and three sisters: Lorena Herrig of Davis, California, Roxana Duncan of Denison and Aletha Nelson of Friends, Nebraska.. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Darlene in 2000; two brothers: Marvin and Don; one son: Rodney and one grandson: David Jedele. Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kalona. Visitation will be from 9:00am until service time on Wednesday. Pastor Mitchell Otto will officiate. Memorials are for the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
