Glenn Coleman, 68, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015. A visitation will be held from 12-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Scudder officiating. Interment will be at Forest Home Cemetery with Military Rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Faith Lutheran Church, an education account for Glenn's grandchildren, or the Quad City Honor Flight. Born September 29, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Glenn Dean was the son of Herbert Lee and Nellie Mae (Hutson) Coleman. He was a 1966 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. On February 8, 1974 he married Deborah A. Dovenspike at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He served his country during the Viet Nam War in the United States Army. Over a 30 year span, Glenn worked for Continental, Contel, and GTE. After retirement, he worked in several different jobs including, NAPA, where he worked as an auto parts man, and in maintenance at Mapleleaf Health Care Center and Mt. Pleasant Community Schools. In his spare time, he helped his son at Coleman Machine and Fabrication. He had recently begun working part time at Crossroads RV Park. A car enthusiast, Glenn was a 25 year member of the Vintage Rodders Car Club and he loved to rebuild old cars. His favorite car was a Mo Par, and his pride and joy was his 1933 Dodge Sedan Delivery. He especially enjoyed going to drag races and Las Vegas. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee and an usher. He was also a lifetime member of Mt. Pleasant VFW Post #2561. Spending time with family and friends was dear to Glenn. Survivors include his wife, Deb; a son, Marc (Melissa) Coleman; a daughter, Angie McCall, all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; four grandchildren, Brody, Kylee, Kelsey, and Abby; a brother, Lz (Kay) Coleman of New London, IA; and a sister, Connie (John) Baker of Mt. Pleasant, IA.
