North English- Glenn “Bob” Ervin Fetzer was born March 15, 1929, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Frank G & Kathyrine Ann (Eichhorn) Fetzer. He grew up in Williamsburg and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1948. He went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On April 12, 1955, Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Cobb at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, Iowa. They later divorced. Bob was a life long farmer and owned and operated “The Duster” in North English since 1972. On January 12, 2006, Bob married Rose Lee Shipley in St. Lucia. Bob was a member of the Eagle’s Club. He enjoyed fishing, farming, checking cows, talking and telling stories. Bob died on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 94 years.
He is survived by his wife Rose Lee Fetzer of North English; children Terry Fetzer of California, Debra (Dave) Boyd of Conesville, and J.J. (Amy) Shipley of North English; six grandchildren Cody & Shania Boyd, Steven Fetzer, Dylan, Degan and Jada Shipley; two sisters Kay Teggatz of North English and Fay Elson of Hiawatha; and a special nephew John Fetzer. He was preceded by his parents, a son Dr. Steven Fetzer and a brother Franklyn Fetzer.
Celebration Of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4:00 -7:00 pm at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
