Glen Everett Beachy was born May 30, 1918 near Kalona, Iowa the son of Ananias and Ella Beachy. In his youth he accepted Christ and became a member of the Old Order Amish Church in which he was ordained a minister on April 17, 1981 and remained faithful until death. He was united in marriage to Susan Mae Yoder on January 2, 1947. Glen died on Monday, April 27, 2009 at his home in rural Kalona at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 28 days. He is survived by his wife Susan and 5 sons and 4 daughters. Ruth at home; Roy and wife Elizabeth Ann; Alta, Mrs Enos Miller; Paul and wife Rose Mary; Anna Mae, Mrs Clayton Borntrager; Joe and wife Salina; Timothy and wife Priscilla; Mary, Mrs Amos Borkholder; Alvin and wife Kathryn, all of Kalona; 63 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers Earl and Joe of Kalona; Jessie of Gladys, VA; 3 sisters Fannie, Mrs Eli C. Miller of Sarasota, FL; Mary, Mrs David L. Miller of Partridge, KS; Esther, Mrs Henry Zook of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren; a great grandchild; and 3 brothers Ray, John and Jonas. The family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown them at the time of his illness and death. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Alvin Beachy residence at 2270 105th St. in rural Kalona. Minister in charge is Paul T. Miller. Burial will be in the Peter Miller Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Alvin Beachy residence and will continue all day on Wednesday. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
