North English- Gilma May Mahannah, was born May 25, 1920, near North English, Iowa, the daughter of William Henry & Ada Luella (Breeden) Carder. She graduated from North English High School. On December 11, 1943, Gilma was united in marriage to Curtis William Mahannah at the North English Christian Church. She worked at the Fair Store, Graham Hardware Store and Evans Photography. Gilma was a member of the North English Christian Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She died on Friday, January 30, 2015, at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 94 years.
She is survived by a son: Ronald (Gloria) Mahannah of Dubuque; two grandsons: Ryan (Shelley) Mahannah of Rochester, MN and Kyle (Amanda) Mahannah of West Des Moines; and four great grandchildren: Ian & Sean Mahannah of Rochester, MN and Kaylee & Aubrey Mahannah of West Des Moines. She was preceded by her parents; husband Curtis; a son Rodney Mahannah; four brothers: Onel "Bill" Carder, Orval Carder, Alfred Carder and Wilford Carder; and three sisters: Ila Grove, Ida Carder and Maxine Bender.
