Gertrude E. (Mrs. Jerome) Krogmeier, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Arbor Court. Visitation will begin after 2:00 p.m on Friday, February 1, 2008, at St.Alphonsus Catholic Church, where a Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening. The family will receive friends following the rosary service. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Beckman, celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Memorials have been established to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and Hospice of Central Iowa. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Born February 24, 1924, in West Point, IA. Gertrude Elizabeth was the daughter of Alois C. and Anna E. Dingman Fraise. She received her education at the St. Paul School. On May 5, 1942, she married Jerome G. Krogmeier in St. Paul, IA. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2006. Gertrude was employed at Sheaffer Pen Company in Mt. Pleasant and also worked at the Ft. Madison Hospital. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the farm. She raised a large garden from which she canned much of the produce for her family. Gertrude was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella and L.B.S. Club. She also enjoyed making numerous quilts. Gertrude is survived by six sons, Marvin (Karen) Krogmeier of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Melvin (Beverly) Krogmeier of Salem, IA, Orville (Tracy) Krogmeier of West Point, IA, Rodger (Karen) Krogmeier of Lockridge, IA, Gregory (Cindy) Krogmeier of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Louis (Rosie) Krogmeier of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one daughter, Monica (Gene) Klopfenstein of Wayland, IA; two brothers, Vic Fraise of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Harold Fraise of Danville, IA.; two sisters, Lucille Mayberry of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Marilyn Mercer of Burlington, IA. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and five step great great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Lou Tousignant; and one sister, Henrietta Westfall.
