George E. Von Lienen, age 88 of Macon, MO., passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly, MO., after a long battle with COPD.

George was born October 8, 1932, in Sumner Township, Iowa County, the son of John W. and May Schafbuch Von Lienen. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1950 then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy J. Fuller on October 6, 1956. He worked for Coca Cola Bottling Company in Marengo and Cedar Rapids for more than 20 years. He also worked as maintenance supervisor at Landuits Lake and Quad Cities Camper Sales until his retirement in the late 1990’s. George enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan. His hobbies were woodworking, growing dahlias and raising bluebirds.

George is survived by his children, John (Barbara) Von Lienen of Jonesboro, AR., Lee (Joyce) Von Lienen of Indianapolis, IN., Peggy (Norm) Kaden of Columbia, MO., and Scott (Margaret) Von Lienen of Longview, TX; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy in 2013, one sister and three brothers.

Inurnment will be at the Marengo Cemetery, Marengo. Due to Covid19 concerns a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be contributed to the Marengo American Legion at P.O. Box 232 Marengo, Iowa, 52301. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
