Genevieve E. Redlinger, age 93, of Harper, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, at the Washington County Hospital, following a brief illness Genevieve was born April 19, 1914, in Harper, Iowa, to John and Elizabeth (Streit) Ruplinger. Genevieve attended St. Elizabeth school in Harper. On August 27, 1938 she married Richard E. Redlinger. The couple spent most of their lives farming in the Harper area and moved to Harper in 1953. Genevieve became a resident of Maplewood Manor in Keota in January 2002. She enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting and especially enjoyed making afghans. Survivors include her sons: Eugene Redlinger of Wellman, John Redlinger of Columbus City, Iowa, 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, one grandson John Redlinger, brothers: Ernest, Joseph, Edwin, Francis and sisters: Mildred Carris, Madeline Fulton, Irene Lawrence and Marjorie Cathey. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the Bethel Cemetery in rural Sigourney with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A general memorial fund has been established.
