Gene Harold Goodman was born on March 14, 1948, in Williamsburg, IA the son of Harold and Gayle Veit Goodman. He grew up on a farm near Millersburg, graduated from Deep River Millersburg High School and later attended Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, NE. Following the death of his father, Gene began farming the home farm when he was 19 years old and continued until his death. He also worked as a semi driver for many years. Gene was married to JoGlenna Miller at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA on August 18, 1973. Gene died from complications of a stroke on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. He lived 60 years, 1 month and 24 days. He is survived by his wife JoGlenna Goodman of Grinnell, IA; son Ryan Goodman (Anita) of Taylors, SC; daughter Renee Stadnick (John) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Elaina Goodman, Zachary Goodman, Emma Stadnick, Ava Stadnick and a grandchild to be; a brother Don Goodman (Kathleen) of Colfax, IA; and sister Mary Ellen DeMar of rural North English, IA; He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law. A celebration of his life will be held at high noon on Monday, May 12, 2008 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English with Pastor Ed Hannahs officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 11, 2008 from 4 PM to 7 PM. A general memorial fund has been established.
