Gary "Ed" Schauf, 63,of Marietta South Carolina formerly of Wellman, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at St Francis Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. Ed was born July 14, 1949 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Velda (Moffit) Schauf. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1968. Mr. Schauf retired from the US Air Force with twenty years of service and also was a retired aircraft mechanic with Lockheed Martin. Ed is survived by his mother Velda of Wellman, he is survived by his partner, Carol Schmidt; two children Brian and Michelle, four sisters, Shirley Debler of Wellman, Myrna Bozarth (Ray) of West Liberty, Mary Van Dyke (Jerry) of Louisville, KY, and Sandra Hahn of West Liberty; and brother, Dennis Schauf of West Liberty. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his siblings, Larry, Bill, Lori and Kenneth Schauf. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Rev. Frances Baumert will officiate. Burial will be held in the Wellman Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association and Washington County Hospice.
