Gary Lee Mather was born June 26, 1957, in North English, to James and Mildred (Clubb) Mather and graduated from Tri County High School in Thornburg. On December 3, 1977, he married Deb Gent at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kinross. Gary was a lifelong resident of the Keswick community. He enjoyed farming, spending time with his family, his grandson, Alex. He was an avid Packers and Cubs fan and enjoyed playing cards, especially Phase 10. Gary died on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at his home, following a brief illness. He lived 51 years, 2 months and 1 day. Survivors include his wife: Deb Mather of Sigourney; daughter: Amy Jandrisovits and husband Paul of Davenport; son: Andrew Mather and wife Linda of Sigourney; grandson: Alex Lee of Davenport; mother: Mildred Mather of Sigourney; sister: Helen Dobbins and husband Randy of Hedrick; brother: James Mather and wife Kay of Ottumwa; father and mother-in-law; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, brother-in-law: James Bombei and two sisters-in-law. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Sorden Cemetery near Webster. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English, where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Keokuk County.
