Freda Wilson

Freda J. Wilson, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Park Place Elder Living. Visitation will begin after 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, August 26, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike Hess officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Born September 22, 1926, in Montgomery County, IL, Freda Jane was the daughter of Jerry Simpson and Lurana Jane Owens. She attended Ramsey High School in Ramsey, IL. Freda was employed in the payroll department of Vega Industries and later Heatilator in the 1970's and 1980's. She took classes at Indian Hills College in Ottumwa, IA to assist her with her job. A devoted mother and grandmother, Freda worked to make a loving home for her family. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a big supporter of the Republican Party, liked to travel, and was an avid fan of Jeopardy and Fox News. She enjoyed oil painting, flower gardening and crocheting, especially blankets and pillows. She collected wooden and ceramic ducks and demitasse spoons. Freda is survived by a son, Frederick Allen Lovelace of Edgewater, FL; a daughter, Toi Ann (Jimmie Dean) Mills of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a step-son, Gary Eugene (Tami) Wilson of Anderson, IN; four grandchildren, Michelle Renee (Larry) Lovelace-Reno of Jacksonville, FL, Whitney Alan Mills of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Kayla Deann (Ryan) Mills-Utter of Altoona, IA, and Levi Jerry Mills of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and 5 great-grandchildren, Tiffany Lovelace-McGraw, Tyler Reno, Brittany Lovelace, Trevor Reno, and Mason Lovelace. Along with her parents, Freda was preceded in death by her twin brother, Frederick Jerry Owens; a brother, Howard Owens; a sister, Thelma "Tom" Lourash, and a grandson, Harold Eugene Lovelace.
