Freda M. Freelove, 74, of Salem, IA, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at her home. At her request, cremation will be accorded. No formal services or visitation will be held. Inurnment will be in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be designated later. Born July 21, 1935, in Marceline, MO, Freda Mae was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Smoot) Manewal. She received her education in the Marceline and Keokuk school districts. On August 2, 1952, she married Robert Jones in Keokuk, IA. The couple later divorced. On December 10, 1984, she married Gerald Freelove in Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1997. Mrs. Freelove was a busy homemaker raising her family. For a time, she worked outside of the home in restaurants, casino boats and in the nursing field. She attended the Salem Friends Church. Freda loved crafts, working puzzles and playing cards. She also enjoyed spending time on the computer and feeding birds. She was also well known for her pie and cake baking. Mrs. Freelove is survived by one daughter, Rae Anne (Thomas) Twaddle of Salem, IA; six sons, Frank Jones of Boulder, CO, Robert Lee (Lynn) Jones of Salem, IA, Terry Jones of Florida, Vernon (Marcia) Jones of Davenport, IA, Glen Jones of Bonaparte, IA, and John (Stephanie) Jones of Alaska. Also surviving are one brother, Roy (Jane) Manewal of Three Rivers, MI; two sisters, Mary McGhghy of Salem, IA, and Alice Pritchard of Independence, MO; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Freda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerald, two brothers and five sisters.
