Keswick Dateline Frank J. Greene was born on June 14, 1923, in Keswick, IA, a son of James and Bertha (Nilles) Greene. He graduated from Keswick High School in 1942. Frank served in the SeaBees , the construction battalions of the US Navy, during WWII.He was united in marriage to Theresa M. Dansdill on April 14, 1947, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Millersburg, IA. He farmed for 60 years. Frank was a member of the American Legion in Keswick and the Knights of Columbus in Harper. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed working with his cattle. Frank died on Holy Thursday, April 1, 2010, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney, with his family by his side, at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his wife Theresa Greene of Keswick, children: James (Janet)Greene of Boise, ID; Patrick Greene of Coralville, IA; Andrew (Kathy) Greene of Keswick, IA; Terrance (Willie) Greene of South English, IA; Mary Greene of What Cheer, IA; Kathy (John) Marner of Iowa City, IA; Beth (Mike) James of Deep River, IA; Frank Greene of Gibson, IA; Steve (Amy) Greene of Deep River, IA ; and Richard Greene of Keswick, IA; 26 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: John Greene of Webster, IA, and Richard Greene of Williamsport, PA and 2 sisters: Margaret Greene and Kathleen Strohman both of West Des Moines, IA. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sons: Francis, Mick and Ed; 2 brothers James and Roy; 3 sisters: Anna Stites, Jessie McCurdy and Ellen Selk; and an infant granddaughter. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM am on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English. Rev. Philip Ryan will preside. Visitation will be on Monday, April 5, 2010, from 4 to 8 PM at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English with a wake service at 4 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Sigourney. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. A general memorial fund has been established.
