Wellman-Frances J. Miller was born November 19, 1914 near West Liberty, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred Nixon and Emma Kate (Arnold) Rabe. She graduated from West Liberty High School. Frances was united in marriage to Ardell J. Miller on June 26, 1938 in Independence, Iowa. The couple has lived in Iowa City, Lone Tree, Washington and moved to Wellman in 1943. Frances enjoyed playing Bridge, Sequins, spending time with her family, caring for cats and playing the piano. She formerly was active in T.T.T., Eastern Star, Bridge Club and the Red Hats. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman. Frances died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Parkview Manor in Wellman after a brief illness at the age of 93 years. She is survived by two sons: James (Linda) Miller of Tavernier, Florida, Don (Cindy) Miller of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters: Kay (Pat) Langenberg of Iowa City and Janelle ( Robert) Brophy of Wellman; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1993, two sisters: Desda Lewis and Ardyce Buck and two brothers: Adrian Rabe and Arnold Rabe. Celebration of life Service will be 10:30 am Monday, November 17, 2008 at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wellman. Rev. Rich Pippert will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November, 16, 2008 from 2:00 to 6:00pm with the family present from 2-4pm. Memorials are for Wellman Ambulance or the Asbury United Methodist Church.
