Frances Jones, age 93, of Sigourney, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. Frances was born Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1919, in Janetown, Iowa, to Earl and Mary (Bennett) McMullen. Her family moved to Kansas when she was six, then moved back to the area and she graduated from Delta High School in 1938. Following graduation Frances worked at the overall factory in Oskaloosa for a short time. On October 1, 1939, she married Harold L. Jones in St. Joseph, Missouri. The couple lived and farmed in the Hayesville area and bred Polled Herefords for several years. Frances was involved with the Golden Rule Workers and the Hayesville Community Church. She especially enjoyed going to sales, where she was known as "Hayesville Jones," collecting antiques, embroidering and going for drives.. Survivors include her son: Earl (Marjorie) Jones of Sigourney; three daughters: Mary Frances (Bill) Martin of Sigourney, Linda (Bob) Klett of Sigourney and Audrey (Geoff) Eyler of Gibson; one granddaughter; nine grandsons; 17 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Harold on April 24, 1992; brother: Denver McMullen and step-mother: Maude McMullen. Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Rev. Jim Stout officiating. Burial will be at Pennington Cemetery in rural Sigourney. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013, at the funeral home.
