Frances Homan

SIGOURNEY-Frances Homan, age 84, of Sigourney, died Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

 Frances was born June 28, 1940, near Martinsburg, the daughter of Frank and Leila (Hawk) Knaak. She grew up in the Martinsburg and Hedrick communities and graduated from Hedrick High School. On April 19, 1963, she married Dale Homan in Lancaster, Missouri. The couple lived in Webster, Keswick, North English and Thornburg before moving to Sigourney in 1995. Frances worked in the laundry department at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney for many years. She attended the Baptist Church in Sigourney and enjoyed playing cards with friends, doing puzzles and collecting salt and pepper shakers.

 Survivors include two sons: Jerry (Kristy) Homan of Plainfield, Illinois and Rick (Marie) Homan of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren: Jessica Homan, Jenna Homan, Eric (Allison) Homan, Joe (Cassie) Kratoska, Liz (Chris) Miller and Bobbi Beck; five great grandchildren and brother: Mike Knaak of Corydon. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dale in 2008; brother: David Knaak and sister-in-law: Marlene Knaak.

 Memorial graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Conner Cemetery near Sigourney. There will be no visitation.
