Florence Wade

IOWA CITY - Florence Leona Wade was born December 30, 1921 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William and Amanda (Freitag) Samuel. She graduated from Amunson High School and attended American Academy of Beauty. On March 9, 1946 Florence was united in marriage to Dean Wade in Chicago, IL. They lived in Wellman for 40 years until moving to Mission, TX in 1988 and in 2005 Florence moved to Iowa City, IA. Florence volunteered at the McCallen Veteran Outpatient Clinic for 15 years. She enjoyed Hawkeye sports, and was a member of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Rebecca Lodge and attended the Franklin Methodist Church. Florence died on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at her home in Iowa City at the age of 93 years.

Florence is survived by four children; Tom Wade of Fort Worth, TX, Mick Wade (Mary French) of Washington, IA, Sandie (Mike) Augustine of Cedar Rapids, IA, Roberta "Bunny" (Dan) Peiffer of Washington, IA. 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, a son Bryce and a great granddaughter Tymber Mikelle Wade.

Celebration of Life Service will be 7:00 PM Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman, Iowa. Rev. Charles Fladung will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, May 5 at the Powell Funeral Home.
