Williamsburg-Florence M. Dietrich was born August 9, 1923 in Troy Township, near Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Rollo and Effie Walter Peirce. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1941. Florence was united in marriage to Charles Vernon Dietrich on June 20, 1941 at her parents home near Williamsburg. Together over their 48 years of marriage they were blessed with seven children which they raised on the farm near Williamsburg. Charles died October 8, 1989. Florence later married Cecil Gorsh January 8, 1994, they later were divorced. She was an active member of the Fundamental Gospel Church. She had a love for life and enjoyed keeping in touch with her children, grandchildren and friends. Florence went home to be with her Lord on her 81st birthday which was Monday, August 9, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a brief illness. She is survived by two sons: Steven (Jocilyn) Dietrich of Williamsburg and Todd (Denise) Dietrich of Victor; four daughters: Janice (Dale) McLeland of Newberg, Oregon, Eunice (Ray) Gienapp of Arlington, Iowa, Betty Chapman (fiance Greg Hakeem) of Vancouver, Washington and Sherri Dietrich of Waldoboro, Maine; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and a sister Ruth Stevens of Sumner. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-Shirley DeLancey and a brother- Leighton Peirce and two sisters-Leona Peirce and Vera Dietrich. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004 at the Fundamental Gospel Church in rural Marengo, Iowa. Rev. Richard Snyder will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery near Williamsburg. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
