Florence Christine Gardner, age 101, of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 11, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, with Pastor Thomas Ogilvie officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation: 9:30 a.m., until service time, Monday, January 11, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family. Masks and social distancing is required.
Florence is survived by two nephews, Randy (Kathy) Koehn and Kurt (Susan) Koehn, of Webster; and two nieces Donna Kirkpatrick, of Williamsburg and Janice Cronin, of North Liberty. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Christine; her husband Carl in 1983; three sisters, Alice Heitshusen, Madora Jensen and Marcella Koehn; four sisters-in-law; and five brothers-in-law.
Florence Christine Heitshusen was born January 25, 1919, in rural Conroy, Iowa. She is the daughter of William and Christine (Trimpe) Heitshusen. Florence was baptized on February 23, 1919 and was confirmed in her faith on April 9, 1933, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. She attended Trinity Lutheran School, of Conroy. On April 2, 1949, Florence was united in marriage to Carl Gardener. They made their home in the country house Florence was born and raised in for 53 years, southwest of Conroy. The couple moved to Williamsburg in 1971. Florence enjoyed quilting and flowers. She moved to Highland Ridge Care Center in 2014.
