Florence Anna Olson, was born on September 7, 1910, in York Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry A. And Kathryn (Schwarting) Koester. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, by the Rev. F. Bonovsky. The family moved to Conroy, where she attended the Lutheran School and graduated from Conroy High School in 1928. She married Roy J. Olson on February 18, 1932, at Trinity Lutheran Parsonage in Conroy. She worked in the accounting department at Amana Refrigeration for 20 years. She has lived in the Conroy and Williamsburg Communities throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She was an avid bridge player and most of all enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Florence died on Friday, September 5, 2008, at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg, following a brief illness at the age of 97 years, 11 months and 29 days. She is survived by a daughter Rose Marie (Glenn) Maas of Osage Beach, MO; 4 grandchildren- David Still, Linda (Doug) Kobusch, Mary Maher and Kelli (Max) Reising; 9 great grandchildren- Brianna (Matt) Riedel, Chelsea Still, Anthony Kobusch, Mason Kobusch, Corey Moore, Rebecca Moore, Jaxson Maher, Eva Reising and Olivia Reising; and a son-in-law Richard Still of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter Lois Still; a son James in infancy; 3 brothers Arnold Koester, Alfred Koester and Elmer Koester, and a sister Mildred Heitshusen. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Rev. Gary Sears will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, from 4-8 pm at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
