Firman Duane McBeth

MARTINSBURG - Firman Duane McBeth was born February 14, 1946 in rural Agency, Iowa the son of Firman Forrest and Erma (Ruggles) McBeth. He graduated from Pekin High School in 1964. He married Peggy Edmundson and later divorced and married Judith Buseman and later divorced. Duane was a lifelong resident of Martinsburg. He worked at Martinsburg Lumberyard, was an instructor at Indian Hills Community College, and owned and operated Universal Service and Appliance Repair. Duane served in the Iowa Army National Guard for 6 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, working on cars and motorcycles. Duane died on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 70 years.
Duane is survived by a son Jason McBeth of Martinsburg; a daughter Hope Dee Exline of Victor; 6 grandchildren Mary, Emily, Jacob, Ben, Matthew and Avery; 9 brothers and sisters, Judy (Dave) Wallerich of Sigourney, Joyce (Lavern) Burtlow of Delta, Janice (Larry) Langfitt of Oskaloosa, Janet Evans of Sigourney, Forrest McBeth of Delta, Firm (Sue) McBeth of Richland, Jerlyn (John) Bowers of Sigourney, Fred McBeth of Martinsburg, Perry (Mary) McBeth of Hedrick; special friend Mike Jasper of Martinsburg, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Lloyd Pilcher, a daughter Michelle McBeth and a brother-in-law Lonnie Evans.


Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Delta Methodist Church in Delta. Rev. Vince Homan will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt Zion Cemetery near Martinsburg. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday at the Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. In lieu of flowers a general memorial fund has been established. The Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney is caring for Duane and his family.
