WILLIAMSBURG - Fern Adel Kuhnle was born Sunday, June 25, 1916 in Williamsburg, Iowa the daughter of Evan and Nora (White) Mullnix. On November 28, 1936 she was united in marriage to George J. Kuhnle in Galesburg, Illinois. They lived in Amana, Conroy and Williamsburg. Fern worked at the Amana Bakery and the Amana Woolen Mills. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Fern died on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo following a lengthy illness at the age of 90 years. Fern is survived by a daughter Sharon Herring and husband Roger of Williamsburg; 2 grandsons - Stuart Slaymaker and wife Kathy of Cedar Rapids; Gary Houser and wife Dawn of Portland, Oregon; and 5 great grandchildren - Chad and Kyle Slaymaker; Jacob, Caitlyn and Kamryn Houser. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on January 14, 1975; an infant son; 4 brothers -Wayne, Lester, Bill and Warren; and 2 sisters - Cora and Merwyn. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Rev. Gary Sears will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established for the American Diabetes Association.
