Fan Teggatz was born Aug 27, 1918, in Sterling, Colorado, the daughter of William and Emma (Hertle) Neill. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa and she attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught school for two years before she was married. Fan was united in marriage to Harold W. Teggatz on March 29, 1941, in Winside, Nebraska. They farmed for many years near Williamsburg. The couple moved to Williamsburg in 1975 until May 2000, when they moved to Lakeview Village in Amana. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. She loved knitting, quilting and traveling with Harold in their retirement years. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fan died Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at the Colonial Manor in Amana after a brief illness, at the age of 88 years. Fan is survived by two daughters Karen Guth and husband, Jim, of Canton, Michigan, and Lorelee Brandman and husband, David, of Prescott, Arizona; three grandchildren: Amy McKee, Eric Guth and Steve Guth; five great-grandchildren: Jacob and Ava McKee, Andy and Mallory Guth and Eloise Guth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2000 and a brother, George Neill. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 am Friday, February 23, 2007, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Rev. Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
