Williamsburg- Everett Byron Joseph was born May 2, 1912, in Troy Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Lew and Eva Mae (Figg) Joseph. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1930. On February 14, 1939, he was united in marriage to Anita Steinke at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. He was a life long resident of the Williamsburg community where he farmed, was a seed crop salesman and was a school bus driver. He was a former member of the Williamsburg Fire Department. Everett was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, where he was active in the Fellowship Club and various church offices. He was a Trustee and a Sunday School teacher recruiter. He also measured ground for the ASCS office. Everett died on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 99 years. He is survived by 3 children: Harold (Karen) Joseph of Williamsburg, Marge (Larry) Shay of Cedar Rapids and Cynthia (David) Fruendt of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Anita; a daughter Rachel Leah; a brother Harvey Joseph; 2 sisters: Iva Kennedy and Opal Knock and a great grandson.. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. Rev. Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be on Monday from 3-7 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church or Iowa City Hospice. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries.
