Evelyn L Brown

WELLMAN - Evelyn Lucille Brown was born May 8, 1928, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of James and Rowena (McDaniel) Broherd. On April 27, 1946, Evelyn was united in marriage to William Brown in Ottumwa. She worked as a nursing assistant at Raim and Blank Children's Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Bill and Evelyn moved to the Wellman community in 1957. She was a member of the Prairie Flower Baptist Church. Evelyn was well known in the community for her wonderful cakes that she made. Evelyn passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 88 years.
She is survived by her husband William of Wellman; 2 daughters: Janice (Max) Long of Brighton, Sharon (Larry) Miller of Wellman; a daughter-in-law Shirley Brown of Wellman; 8 grandchildren; Beth Ann Long, Tony Long, Trisha Miller, Kevin Miller, Kristi Strickland, Karissa Brincks, Stacey Brown, Shaylee Adrian 15 great grandchildren; and a sister Marguerite Parsons of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dennis Brown, and 3 brothers Gary Broherd, Bob Broherd and Alan Mangold.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Prairie Flower Baptist Church in rural Washington. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-6 P.M. on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman.
