Eva N. Heise, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, beginning after 2:00 p.m., at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Great River Hospice and the First United Methodist Church. Born March 25, 1923, in Salem Township, Eva Nellie was the daughter of Glenn and Gladys Belle Doan Maxwell. She was a graduate of Salem High School in 1941. On March 25, 1943, Eva married Robert E. Heise in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1997. A lifelong resident of Henry County, Eva was a homemaker, helped her husband on the family farm, gardened, and liked canning her produce. Her family and especially her grandchildren were very important to her. She enjoyed square dancing, walking, traveling, and playing cards. Eva was a member of Cedar Creek Friends Church. Mrs. Heise is survived by a son, Steve (Linda) Heise of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Heise of Mt. Pleasant; a brother; Duane (Joni) Maxwell of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and a sister, JoAnn (Dick) Corell of Mt. Pleasant, IA. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Goody, Elisha (Chad) McMullin, and Doug (Teresa) Heise, all of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Grant, and Gage Goody and Sydney Heise, all of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Along with her husband, Mrs. Heise was preceded in death by a son Jim Heise; two sisters, Lorraine Van Syoc and Bea Jones; and one brother Ross Maxwell.
