Eunice (Dickerson) Watt, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, formerly of Lamoni, IA, died Sunday, January 15, 2006, at the Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon on Wednesday at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, IA. Memorials have been established to the Community of Christ Church. On line condolences and the complete obituary may be viewed at olsonpowell@lisco.com Born August 3, 1920, in Ames, NE, she was the daughter of Harry and Emma Martha (Tank) Dickerson. She graduated from high school in North Bend, NE, and became a country school teacher. On August 18, 1940, she married Charles Watt at the Christian Church in North Bend, NE. Following their marriage, the Watts settled in Lamoni, IA, where Eunice worked in the home. When her husband served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, she moved back to Nebraska and worked in a factory that supplied primer with powder and liquid in the nose pieces of the bombs. She later returned to Lamoni, and was rejoined later by her husband after his discharge from the Navy. Eunice returned to college to obtain her teaching degree. Upon graduating, she taught for the East Union High School District in Afton, IA. She also took up flower arranging and received her certificate as a flower judge. While in Afton, the Watts were foster parents for sixteen troubled youth at various times. The Watts then moved to Creston, IA, where Eunice continued teaching. Later, she worked at K-Mart and also opened a ceramic store. When the family moved to Sibley, MO, she taught at the Hopeday School and also taught homebound students. Survivors include her husband Charles Watt, Sr. of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three sons, Charles (Lois) Watt, Jr. of Peoria, IL, Earl (Dana) Watt of Bath, MI, and Robert (Ann) Watt of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one daughter, Diana (Hung) Le of San Jose, CA; one sister Wilma Johnson of Red Oak, IA, and one brother Marion (Nola) Dickerson of Grand Junction, CO. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
