Cecil Eugene Foster, 76, of Lockridge, IA, died Saturday, November 03, 2012, at his home. Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at the Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, Mt. Pleasant, IA, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at the Memorial Chapel, on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Alfred Kruse officiating. Burial will be in New Sweden Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the New Sweden Chapel Fund. On-line condolences can be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born March 21, 1936, in Dallas City, IL, Eugene was the son of Cecil Theodore and Idell Mount Foster. He was a 1954 graduate of LaHarpe High School. On July 4, 1954, Eugene married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Raye Fark in Burnside, IL. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2007. Eugene grew up as a farm boy and the love of the farm and the caring for livestock stayed with him his entire life. He moved to the farm near Lockridge in 1964. Along with his farming, he was a rural mail carrier for twenty-seven years, before retiring in 2001. Eugene enjoyed the simple pleasures in life that he found through his work, farming, and helping neighbors and friends. He was a member of First Augustana Lutheran Church. Mr. Foster is survived by four sons, Duane (Marcia) Foster of Des Moines, IA, Dean (Debra) Foster of Lockridge, IA, Dale Foster of Syracuse, NE, and Darrin (Carey) Foster of Golden, CO; one brother, Lee Foster of Rochester, NY; and two sisters, Barbara (Melvin) Messer of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Sharon Crane of New Orleans, LA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Celina (Michael) Fleming, Jesse Foster, Cody Foster, Caleb Foster, Rebekah Foster, and Landon Foster and three great-grandchildren, Katherine, James, and Andrew Fleming. Along with his wife, Phyllis, Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Madonna Foster.
