Ethan Conrad, 20, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Monday, August 11, 2014, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO. An open visitation will be held from 12-7 p.m., on Friday, August 15, 2014, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16th at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Warhover officiating. An informal Celebration of Life gathering will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the MPCSD High School Band and The Nature Conservancy an organization that shares Ethan's love of nature. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com. Born December 11, 1993 in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Ethan Alexander was the son of Tim and Karen (Voyles) Conrad. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 2012. He was a student at Truman State University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi. Ethan had provided ResCare for Jared Smith, and he had interned with the Winegard Company in Burlington. He worked this summer for the IT department at Mt. Pleasant Community Schools. As a youth, Ethan participated in Cub Scouts, Little League and soccer. During Old Threshers, he participated in many activities including the Log Village. With a passion for music, he played trumpet, baritone and electric guitar. He would compose his own music and was a member of the MPCHS marching band, symphonic band, jazz band and participated in the annual Tuba Christmas. He was active in cross country and track. A lover of nature, he found joy in the outdoors. Survivors include his parents, Tim and Karen Conrad of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two sisters, Amelia Conrad of Atlanta, GA, and Ellie Conrad of Mt. Pleasant, IA; grandparents, Jack and Glenna Voyles of New London, IA and Nancy Conrad of New London, IA; and his girlfriend, Maddie Hurst, of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family. His paternal grandfather, Ernest Conrad, preceded him in death; along with his beloved yellow lab, Robbie.
