Williamsburg-Esther Bertha Trimpe Huedepohl was born May 18, 1923, in Iowa Twp, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Rosina (Von Ahsen) Trimpe. She was baptized June 17, 1923 by Rev. Fred Wolter at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Homestead. Her sponsors were Frau Ida Von Ahsen and Ella Trimpe Sandersfeld. She attended and graduated from St. John's Lutheran Parochial School, Homestead, Iowa. Esther was Konfirmiert am Palm Sunday, March 21, 1937, at St. John's Lutheran Church, by Rev. F. Wolter. Esther graduated from Marengo High School in May 1942. After graduation she held secretarial positions with the Cedar Rapids Gazette, LaPlant-Choate Manufacturing Company and Nash Finch Company in Cedar Rapids till December 1947. She married Harvey Huedepohl on January 31, 1948, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Homestead. They farmed near Homestead, Millersburg and moved to rural Williamsburg, in 1951. Harvey and Esther celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary on January 31, 2009. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Millersburg, where she served as president and treasurer of Trinity LWML and also treasurer of Zone LWML. She served as AAL secretary/treasurer for Branch 2694 from 1970-1988. Esther enjoyed her bowling, she has held offices in the Sunday Mixers Bowling League and the Pin Spinners Bowling League. Esther enjoyed being a sales representative for Avon for 40 years. Esther died on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at the Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her husband Harvey, her children Neal (Teresa) Huedepohl of Conroy, Bruce Huedepohl of Independence, LaMar (Keith) Stanerson of Conroy and Vida (Jim) McCoy of Collierville, TN; a daughter-in-law Kathy Huedepohl of Iowa City; 11 grandchildren: Brian, Troy, Bridget and Toby Stanerson, Andrew Huedepohl, Kate Tryon, Benjamin and Matthew McCoy, Amy, Chad & Emily Huedepohl; 13 great grandchildren: Trevor, Kyleigh, Ellie, Sidney and Tucker Stanerson, Jocelyn and Madison Schaefer, Abigail and Anna Tryon, Aidan, Emma and Kayla Huedepohl and Siena Stanerson; a brother Paul Trimpe of Williamsburg; 3 sisters Ida Strunk of Williamsburg, Viola Lemon of Davenport and Luella Barnes of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters Edna Wetjen, Lorena Moennich and Ruth Koehn; 3 brothers: Arnold Trimpe, Alfred Trimpe and Raymond Trimpe; and a son Glenn Huedepohl. Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg. Rev. Thomas Shumaker will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Conroy. Visitation will be on Friday, from 4-7:30 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
