Ervin R. Schrock was born May 26, 1915 in Shickley, Nebraska the son of Daniel and Anna (Roth) Schrock. He grew up in Illinois and moved to Iowa in the mid 1940's. He accepted Christ in his youth and was baptized. He was a member of the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. He farmed in the Wellman and Kinross communities for 46 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed raising cattle. He moved to rural Kalona in July of 1994. Ervin died on Monday, August 16, 2010 at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 95 years. Ervin is survived by eight brothers and sisters - Mabel E. McKittrick of Terre Haute, IN; Bessie M. Swartzendruber of Iowa City; Bertha E. Miller of Mode, IL; Lillie K. Thomas (C.C.) of South Pasadena, CA; Jacob W. Schrock of Kalona; Howard V. Schrock (Willeane) of Medina, OH; Esther M. Tidley (Arthur) of Oxnard, CA; Lydia A. Kennel (Dwight) of Monmouth, OR; sister-in-law Helen Schrock of Phoenix, AZ; Evelyn Schrock of Windsor, IL; his aunt Ellen Roth Clark of Wayland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers Raymond P. Schrock; Edwin Schrock; John D. Schrock; Elmer Schrock; Daniel Schrock; Fred C. Schrock; 4 brothers-in-law Raymond Sivllie, James McKittrick, J. Paul Swartzendruber, Edward Miller; three sisters-in-law Joan Schrock, Jeanette Schrock, Josephine Schrock; and a nephew Calvin E. Miller. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Rev. Marvin Hostetler will officiate. Burial will be in the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Mennonite Central Committee.
