Erna Crowl

Erna Crowl, 78, of rural Wayland, IA, died Friday, August 25, 2006, at her home following a lengthy illness. The family will greet friends at a visitation, which will be held at the Faith Christian Outreach Church, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening, August 28, 2006. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., at the Faith Christian Outreach Church, with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. A private family burial will be held. Memorials have been established to the Faith Christian Outreach Church and the Great River Hospice. The Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant is in charge of arrangements. The daughter of Wilhelm J. and Katherina Strack Aauck, Erna was born on November 11, 1927, in Biebesheim, Germany. She married Clarence A. Crowl on September 21, 1948, in Biebesheim, Germany. He survives. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Iowa, where they have lived in Wayland area ever since. Erna was a mother and homemaker. When her children were a little older, Erna went to work at Parson's College. She worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant as a line worker and later was a housekeeper at Iowa Wesleyan College and Faith Christian Outreach Church. Mrs. Crowl was a charter member of the Faith Christian Outreach Church. She enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to Christian tapes. She worked in her garden and was a good cook. Along with her husband, Mrs. Crowl is survived by two sons, Donald W. Crowl and his wife Marva of Wayland, IA, and Gary C. Crowl and his wife Connie of Tulsa, OK, and two daughters, Roswita and her husband Donald Betts of Sarasota, FL, and Angela and her husband Jack Woodson of Brighton, IA. Mrs. Crowl is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Crowl was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Joshua Crowl.
