Wayland- formerly of South English Elsie Blanche Hoylman, was born October 11, 1919, in Roseland, Nebraska, a daughter of Abraham & Lydia Elsie (Snyder) Schiffler. She graduated from Roseland High School. On January 7, 1941, Elsie married Wayne Wesley Hoylman, at the Roseland Mennonite Church, Roseland, Nebraska. She grew up in Nebraska and moved to Iowa once she married. She has lived in rural South English, Webster and Kinross since 1973, then moved to Wayland in 1997. She worked at Country Lane Foods for 13 years and was a homemaker. Elsie was a former member of the English River Church of the Brethren, South English, where she taught Sunday School and VBS for many years and was active in the women's sewing group. She later joined Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church near Wayland. Elsie died on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa at the age of 92 years. She is survived by her six children: Frances (George) Murphy, Carol (Elton) Bennett all of Newport News, VA, W. Louis (Janette) Hoylman of Delta, PA, Leland (Barbara) Hoylman of Wauseon, OH, Wanita (Michael) Gannon of Chandler , AZ, and Myron (Pam) Hoylman of Mount Pleasant, IA; a son-in-law David Kindy of Winston Salem, NC; 17 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne; a daughter Merna Kindy; a grandson Jon Kindy, 5 brothers: Albert, Wesley, George, Marion & Phares Schiffler; and 2 sisters: Rebecca Taylor & Ethel Dobbins (Elsie's twin). Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at10:30 am at the Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church near Wayland. Pastor Larry Evers will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, June 18, 2012 from 3:30 pm to 7:00pm at the Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church near Wayland. Burial will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the Brethren Cemetery near South English. Powell Funeral Home in Wellman are caring for services. A memorial fund has been established for the Parkview Home, Wayland or the Crowded Closet.
