Williamsburg - Elmer John Von Weihe was born October 27, 1918 in York Township, near Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of John and Anna (Baack) Von Weihe. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and was a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Elmer has lived and farmed in Williamsburg all his life. Elmer served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945 during WWII. He was a member of the Iburg Poulson VFW Post #8797. Elmer died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, of cancer at the age of 88 years. Elmer is survived by his sister: Alma Von Weihe of Williamsburg; 6 nieces and nephews: Kenneth (Lynne) Von Weihe of Newhall, Don (Bonnie) Von Weihe, and Betty (Dale) Finley all of Williamsburg, Lloyd (Marie) Schwarting of Bloomington, IL, Rita (Douglas) Borer of Wheat Ridge CO and Ruby (George) Hodge of Shell Knob, MO; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rudolph and a sister Erna Schwarting. Celebration of life services will be 10:30am Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, with burial in the church cemetery with Military rites. Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2007 from 4-7 pm at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
