Ellis Lloyd Morrison went to be with the Lord on Sunday January 9, 2011. He was born February 9, 1921 in rural Keokuk county. He was the son of Walter Ellis and Rena Schilling Morrison. His Aunt and Uncle, Warren and Estelle Sweet raised Lloyd after his mother died when he was just a toddler. He attended Cox Rural School #2 and Pleasant Hill Church while growing up. He was drafted into the army during WWII and spent time in Northern Africa, Sicily, and Italy. At the end of the war he was transferred to France and Germany. He was amazed to return from the war on the Queen Elizabeth, which was one of the largest ships of the time that carried over 1500 passengers. After coming home from the war he farmed. He married Lillian Laurene Fry and was later divorced. He retired after working over 30 years at Amana Refrigeration. Some of his favorite things were calling square dances, fishing, camping, and his love of kitties. He is preceded in death by his parents, Brother-in-Law, Pete Montross, and Son-in-Law Billy Jo Nation. He is survived by his children Richard (Darlene) Morrison of Marengo, Diana (Jon) Tory of Riverside, Darrell Morrison of Cedar Rapids, Sharon (Tom) Hegewald of Williamsburg and adopted daughter Rose Ann Morrison of Keosauqua, six grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday January 16, 2011, at the First Lutheran Church rural Conroy for family and friends, with Pastor Don Dovre officiating.
