Conroy- Ella Sophie Heitshusen was born October 22, 1919 near Williamsburg in Troy Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Sophie Wefer Schwarting. She was baptised November 1923 and confirmed April 9, 1933. Ella was united in marriage to Raymond George Heitshusen on January 1, 1941 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. The couple lived in the Williamsburg and Conroy communities. Ella was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. Ella enjoyed being a seamstress, a 4-H leader and baking pies. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy, served on the Altar Guild for 20 years, past member of the choir, Sunshine Circle, E.S.R. and the Ladies Guild. Ella died Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the Colonial Manor in Amana after a extended illness at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 30 days. She is survived by her daughter: Carolyn (Rudy) Moritz of Hawkeye, Iowa; a grandson: Michael (Linda) Lindner of Denver, Iowa; a great granddaughter: Debra Lindner of Waterloo; four step grandchildren: Alan, Kim, Val and Scot; a step great granddaughter: Shannon Stubberud and two step great great grandchildren: TaberLee and Kylee. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1991, two sisters: Emma Sandersfeld and Hilda Hagen and two brothers: Alfred Schwarting and an infant.
