Elizabeth A. Seitsinger, age 82, died following a long illness at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney, IA on Thursday, December 6, 2007. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, December 10, 2007 at the English River Church of the Brethren near South English with Pastor Beth Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Brethren Cemetery near South English. Visitation will be held at the Powell Funeral Home in North English on Sunday, December 9, 2007 from 4:00 Pm until 6:00 PM. She is survived by a brother Jim (Pat) FitzSimmons of Denver, CO, a sister Dorothy Singleton of Keota, IA; nieces and nephews, Pam Riffel (Mark of) What Cheer, IA; Deb (Jim) Goldsmith of Missouri, Rick Lee of Sigourney, IA and Kenneth Lee of Vinton, IA; a brother-in-law Elvin Shafer of Missouri and a sister-in-law Maxine Lee of Sigourney, IA. A memorial fund has been established for Manor House in Sigourney or for Tri-County Dollars for Scholars Elizabeth Ann Seitsinger was born on October 20, 1925 in Sigourney, IA, the daughter of Alfred Irving and Nina Lillian Kave FitzSimmons. She graduated from Keota High School in 1944. On June 15, 1951 Elizabeth was united in marriage to Earl Raymond Seitsinger in Keota. They lived on a farm near South English until moving into town in 1973. Elizabeth worked a number of years as a bookkeeper at the Arco and First Mississippi Fertilizer Centers in South English. Elizabeth was the city Librarian for 28 years. She was a member of the English River Church of the Brethren. She was a member of the Zimri Rebekah Lodge #58, Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge, and was a past president of the Rebekah Assembly of Iowa, a member of the Sigourney Easter Star and was a Past Worthy Matron, a member of South English Women's Club, and was a High Priest of the L.E.A. Elizabeth loved her nieces and nephews and enjoyed crocheting, collecting turtles, doing plastic artwork. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in October 1997 and a sister Mary Shafer.
