KEOTA-Elizabeth Ann Leinen Lyttle, age 98 of Keota and formerly of Des Moines, died Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Mapelwood Manor in Keota after brief illness. Elizabeth was born December 12, 1908 in Harper, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Teresa Berg Adam. She grew up in Harper and graduated from High School there. Elizabeth was united in marriage to D.E. (Tots) Leinen on June 16, 1936 in Keota. They operated the family owned Leinen Meat Market in Keota. After Tot's death in 1952, she moved to Des Moines and worked 18 years for Iowa Power & Light Co. She married Thomas Lyttle on April 18, 1972 and they moved to Branson, Missouri. Elizabeth moved back to Des Moines in 1983, after Thomas's death, and has lived in Keota since October 2003. She was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral and the American Legion Auxiliary in Des Moines. Elizabeth is survived by several nieces and nephews and special friends, Wyatt and Doris Custer of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 2 sisters; Frona Hammes and Mary Peiffer and six brothers: Albert, John, Bill, Ray, Clem and Otto Adam. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in the Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota , where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church or Maplewood Manor. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
