Elaine Marjorie Cram, age 82 of North English, died following a long illness on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the English Valley Care Center in North English. A Celebration of life Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English with Pastor Edwin Jordan officiating. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery in Millersburg, IA. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 30th at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. She is survived by her husband Marion of North English, IA; Children: Marsha (Kelly) Newhouse of Robins, IA; David Cram of Iowa City, IA; Merna (Don) Sellers of Cedar Rapids, IA; 6 grandchildren: Todd & Chad Newhouse, Leah Lind-Cram, Brad Unkel, Tara Snyder and Lisa Michalec; 11 great grandchildren and a sister Shirley Steffen of Williamsburg, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Donald and William Faas. Elaine was born on August 17, 1926 in Millersburg, IA, the daughter of Clare M. And Vena M. Pope Faas. She graduated from Millersburg High School and lived her entire life in the Millersburg and North English area. On June 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Marion Cram at the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church. Elaine worked 10 years as a distribution clerk at Amana Refrigeration. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church of rural North English and served as a Sunday School teacher and church treasurer for many years. She loved sports, was an avid Hawkeye fan, was wonderful cook and a great farm wife. Elaine Struggled many years with Alzheimers and became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in January 2002. She died there on Saturday, September 27, 2008.
